Sylvester Stallone will serve as an executive producer for the forthcoming 'John Rambo' prequel movie. This new installment delves into the origin story of the legendary character, a role Stallone first portrayed in the 1982 film 'First Blood.' Lionsgate officially confirmed Stallone's participation, underscoring his extensive history and understanding of the Rambo universe, which spans over two decades.

Adam Fogelson, chair of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, emphasized the significance of Stallone's involvement, stating that his insights are crucial to the development of 'John Rambo.' The film is currently in production in Bangkok, Thailand, with Noah Centineo, known for his role in 'Street Fighter,' starring as the young Rambo. Jalmari Helander, recognized for his work on 'Sisu,' is directing the prequel.

The ensemble cast features a diverse group of talents, including Yao from 'Sinners,' Jason Tobin of 'A Thousand Blows,' Quincy Isaiah from 'Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,' Jefferson White from 'Yellowstone,' and Tayme Thapthimthong of 'The White Lotus.'

Stallone himself shared his excitement about the project on Instagram, remarking on Rambo's enduring impact on his life and audiences globally. He expressed enthusiasm for exploring the character's formative years, promising to reveal the man behind the legend.

'John Rambo' is penned by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani. The production team includes Kevin King Templeton, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco as producers. Additional executive producers include Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Trevor Short, Dallas Sonnier, and Amanda Presmyk, alongside Stallone. The film is a collaborative effort by Lionsgate, Millennium Media, Templeton Media, and AGBO, with Lionsgate handling distribution.

The prequel aims to explore the formative experiences and background of John Rambo, providing a deeper understanding of the character's journey before he became the hardened veteran depicted in the original series. This strategic move by Lionsgate and the involvement of Stallone aim to rejuvenate the franchise and appeal to both long-time fans and new audiences alike, offering a fresh perspective on a cinematic icon.
