Snips Transforms Classic TV Shows into Vertical Micro-Episodes with Banijay Rights and BIG Media Partnerships

A Tel Aviv-based digital company, Snips, is revolutionizing content consumption by forging partnerships with prominent media entities, Banijay Rights and BIG Media. The collaboration aims to convert expansive television and film archives into concise, vertical-format episodes, dubbed “microseries.” This strategic move addresses the evolving landscape of digital media, catering to audiences who prefer short-form content on mobile devices.

Through these agreements, classic titles such as “Big Brother,” “The Fall,” “Flowers,” “Gracepoint,” “Gunpowder,” “Humans,” “MasterChef,” “Merlin,” and “Two Weeks to Live” will undergo transformation. Snips employs its proprietary AI Film Director technology to condense these narratives into approximately 60 micro-episodes per title. Each segment, ranging from 45 seconds to two minutes, is meticulously edited to preserve the original plot while concluding with a cliffhanger, encouraging continuous viewing. These partnerships mark Snips' initial significant content deals, with plans for more collaborations to be announced soon. The company currently boasts a catalog of over 250 titles and aims to produce thousands annually, focusing on expanding its reach to mobile-first viewers.

Snips emphasizes its unique business model by exclusively focusing on adapting existing content rather than producing original material. This approach avoids direct competition with studios, positioning Snips as a platform that delivers established stories to mobile audiences in an innovative way. The revenue generated from users on Snips’ vertical platform will be shared with content distributors like Banijay and BIG Media, ensuring a mutually beneficial relationship. This venture not only opens new revenue streams for intellectual property owners but also provides valuable insights into mobile audience engagement and content performance in the rapidly growing vertical video space.

In an era where digital content consumption increasingly shifts towards mobile platforms, Snips’ strategy of repackaging beloved narratives into bite-sized, vertical episodes offers a fresh and engaging way for audiences to experience familiar stories. This innovative model not only revitalizes classic content but also fosters a dynamic ecosystem where technology and creativity converge to meet the demands of modern viewers.
