Oscar-winning filmmaker and author whose work and commentary explore fantasy, horror, and cinema.

CBS's long-standing news program, '60 Minutes', is bolstering its roster of on-air talent with the inclusion of Ariel Levy, a distinguished writer from The New Yorker. This strategic hiring reflects the show's commitment to revitalizing its team with compelling voices and diverse reporting capabilities as it approaches its new season. Levy's celebrated career, marked by her incisive exploration of culture, gender, and contemporary societal issues, is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the acclaimed newsmagazine.

As the broadcast prepares for its upcoming season, the executive producer, Nick Bilton, officially welcomed Ariel Levy to the team as a new contributor. Bilton lauded Levy's exceptional originality as a reporter and writer, highlighting her fearless approach to tackling sensitive subjects and venturing into diverse global locations. Her extensive work, spanning nearly three decades at New York magazine and subsequently at The New Yorker, has consistently showcased her unique ability to dissect and illuminate the people and ideas that shape modern existence.

Levy's background includes authoring 'Female Chauvinist Pigs', a book that delves into aspects of what is known as 'raunch culture', demonstrating her capacity to engage with and analyze complex cultural phenomena. Her addition is part of a broader recruitment drive that has also seen other notable figures join the '60 Minutes' team, including New York Times columnist Ross Douthat, 'The Perfect Storm' author Sebastian Junger, and Vice News alumna Gianna Toboni. This expansion aims to enrich the program's content and analytical depth.

These new additions complement the existing ensemble of respected correspondents and contributors, such as Bill Whitaker, Lesley Stahl, and Jon Wertheim. The recruitment initiative follows a period of significant personnel changes, including the departures of several correspondents, indicating a concerted effort by Bilton and the team to redefine and enhance the program's journalistic vision and impact.

Bilton articulated that Ariel Levy, along with the other new and returning journalists, embodies the core values essential to '60 Minutes': profound curiosity, unwavering independence, exceptional reporting skills, a readiness to challenge authority, and an innate knack for uncovering stories that captivate audiences. This assembly of diverse talents is poised to contribute to another season of impactful and engaging investigative journalism.
