Prime Video India is poised to premiere the second season of its highly successful reality series, 'The Traitors,' this August, with fresh episodes released every Thursday. This Indian rendition of the globally popular format sees the return of acclaimed host Karan Johar, guiding 21 celebrities through an intricate challenge centered on themes of trust, betrayal, and deception.
The series, a collaborative effort between Dharmatic Entertainment, Dharma Productions' digital content division, and All3Media International, has significantly impacted the reality television landscape. All3Media International, responsible for distributing the BAFTA and Emmy-winning format created by IDTV, notes that 'The Traitors' has been adapted in over 40 countries. Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals for Prime Video India, expressed immense satisfaction with the first season's reception, highlighting its transformation into a significant cultural event and a cornerstone reality franchise for the platform. He anticipates that the new season will elevate the experience with more intense gameplay and an exciting new roster of participants.
Sabrina Duguet, Executive VP, APAC, at All3Media International, also conveyed her enthusiasm for the show's return, acknowledging the profound connection the Indian adaptation forged with its audience. Dharmatic Entertainment further emphasized that the initial season sparked widespread fascination across the nation, and the upcoming installment aims to uphold the program's authentic, unpredictable, and psychologically compelling essence. Season 2 is scheduled to debut on August 13. Dharmatic Entertainment, established in 2018, has an extensive production history, including over 25 titles such as 'Call Me Bae' and 'Love Storiyaan,' with 'The Traitors' being a key part of its future projects, alongside another global game show format hosted by Johar.
