At the recent San Diego Comic-Con, it was unveiled that rising star Ruaridh Aldington has been cast as a series regular in the second season of “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.” Aldington will embody the character of Keats, an enigmatic extraterrestrial whose perilous past comes to light after he is brought to the academy by a group of cadets, placing his life in jeopardy.

The narrative of Season 2 unfolds in the aftermath of The Burn, introducing a fresh cohort of cadets aspiring to a future within Starfleet Academy. The esteemed Commander Chancellor Nahla Ake, played by Holly Hunter, resumes her role in molding the next generation of space explorers. Meanwhile, Caleb Mir, portrayed by Sandro Rosta, becomes a pivotal figure in Ake's quest to rectify a past error. Adding to the intrigue, Paul Giamatti is set to reprise his role as the menacing Nus Braka, promising further conflict and challenges for the academy.

Aldington, a London-based performer, has previously appeared in the 2024 supernatural thriller “Drained,” directed by Sean Cronin and Peter Stylianou, and the 2024 independent thriller “Dirty Boy.” The series is co-showrun by Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau, who also serve as executive producers alongside Gaia Violo, Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa, and John Weber. The premiere episode of the second season was penned by series creator Gaia Violo and directed by Alex Kurtzman, known for his work on the 2017 film “The Mummy.” Produced by CBS Studios in collaboration with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment, this season will mark the conclusion of the series.
