In his previous capacity at NBCUniversal News Group, Berend was instrumental in driving the expansion of NBC News across various digital frontiers. He played a key role in developing strategies for streaming services, subscription models, e-commerce initiatives, and leveraging emerging digital platforms. Furthermore, his expertise was crucial in shaping the company's approach to generative artificial intelligence, demonstrating his forward-thinking leadership in a rapidly evolving media landscape. Berend's professional journey also includes a significant period at CNN, where he held the position of senior vice president of global video. Notably, he was also a co-founder of Great Big Story, a successful video brand under CNN. Before his impactful contributions at CNN, Berend honed his digital leadership skills at other renowned media entities, including Bloomberg and ESPN Magazine. Interestingly, his media career initially began at Hearst's Esquire, bringing him full circle back to the organization where he first started.
