The 24th Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards recognized excellence in visual effects, with two major productions, "Avatar: Fire and Ash" and "KPop Demon Hunters," dominating the awards ceremony. "Avatar: Fire and Ash" was a standout, securing seven awards from its ten nominations, including the prestigious award for outstanding visual effects in a photoreal feature. The film was also lauded for its outstanding character in a photoreal feature for Varang, its remarkable CG cinematography, and the innovative Kora Fire Toolset, which received the Emerging Technology Award. The creation of over 3,000 visual effects shots for "Avatar: Fire and Ash" underscored the team's commitment to pushing technological boundaries, particularly in accurately rendering dynamic elements like fire.

Beyond "Avatar: Fire and Ash," the animated film "KPop Demon Hunters" made a significant impact, claiming three awards, including the top prize for outstanding animation in an animated feature and outstanding character for Rumi. Other notable winners included "Zootopia 2," which earned an award for outstanding environment in an animated feature for its intricate Marsh Market biome, designed specifically for semi-aquatic life. "Sinners" was recognized for its outstanding supporting visual effects in a photoreal feature, and in television, "Andor" took home two awards, including one for outstanding special (practical) effects, while "Prehistoric Planet: Ice Age" also received two accolades for its visual effects in a photoreal episode.

The ceremony, hosted by comedy duo Randy and Jason Sklar, also honored industry veterans Jerry Bruckheimer with the VES Lifetime Achievement Award and Wētā Workshop co-founder Sir Richard Taylor with the VES Visionary Award. VES Board Chair Kim Davidson commended the recipients, emphasizing the continuous evolution and imaginative prowess within the visual effects craft. The awards showcased the exceptional talent and technological advancements that continue to captivate audiences and redefine storytelling in film and television.

These awards are a testament to the boundless creativity and relentless innovation present in the visual effects industry. Each year, artists and technologists push the boundaries of what is possible, bringing fantastical worlds and compelling characters to life with breathtaking realism and intricate detail. This dedication not only enhances the viewer's experience but also inspires future generations to explore the captivating intersection of art and technology, proving that imagination truly knows no limits.
