Tom Cruise is currently promoting his new movie, 'Digger,' with an unconventional photo campaign that mirrors a TIME Magazine cover feature, offering a detailed view of his oil tycoon persona, Digger Rockwell, from Alejandro González Iñárritu's upcoming satirical film. It's important to note that TIME Magazine clarified its editorial team was not involved in creating this specific cover, which is part of the movie's marketing. The images showcase Cruise's significant physical transformation, presenting Digger in a beige cowboy hat, a gray suit, a bolo tie, and snakeskin boots, embodying the quirky character from the film.

A closer look at the promotional shots reveals Cruise's elaborate makeup, including a balding gray hairpiece, prosthetic nose, and false sideburns. One particularly striking image features Digger alongside his ailing pet cat, whose collar and cloudy blue eye seemingly match the oil baron's bolo tie. This image also includes a compelling quote attributed to Digger: 'Reality is the biggest story ever. Nobody’s buying it.' This suggests the film might delve into critiques of modern society and the concept of reality, possibly targeting younger billionaires who believe in a simulated existence.

Another photo depicts Digger seated on a stool, clutching a small globe, accompanied by the quote: 'I didn’t change the world. I changed what people think it is.' Cruise recently discussed his acting process at a 'Digger' trailer launch, emphasizing his immersive approach to character development. He meticulously considered every detail, from the character's physical appearance, including makeup and costume choices like cowboy boots and shorts, to his movements and overall demeanor. Cruise highlighted the importance of these elements in communicating the character's story and ensuring audiences are fully engaged. This deliberate and detailed approach ensures that every aspect of Digger Rockwell's portrayal is finely tuned to the film's tone, whether it leans towards drama or comedy. The movie is scheduled for release on October 2.

Through his dedicated portrayal and meticulous attention to character detail, Cruise challenges viewers to reflect on deeper societal issues. The film 'Digger' serves as a commentary on contemporary concerns, reminding us of the power of cinema to provoke thought and inspire change. It underscores the responsibility of individuals to question prevailing narratives and strive for a more authentic understanding of the world.
