Steven Soderbergh, acclaimed filmmaker, is embarking on a unique venture that marries his deep appreciation for cinema with his passion for Bolivian brandy. This initiative, titled 'A Man Under the Influence,' promises to be a distinctive cultural event, offering film enthusiasts and cocktail connoisseurs an immersive experience in London.

Soderbergh's Cinematic and Cocktail Series Comes to London

From September 3rd to October 30th, the vibrant city of London will host a special 63-day series, 'A Man Under the Influence: 63 Days of Steven Soderbergh's Selects.' This exclusive event, a collaboration between Soderbergh's Singani 63 brandy and the renowned British arthouse cinema chain Everyman, will take place at The Whiteley. Each week, attendees will have the opportunity to delve into one of nine films, handpicked by Soderbergh himself, spanning different decades and reflecting his personal and cultural influences. The cinematic journey begins with a 63-minute pre-screening happy hour, where guests can savor a selection of innovative Singani 63 cocktails. Following this, inside the theater, a bespoke cocktail, inspired by the evening's feature film and crafted by a leading London bar, will be available for order. The experience is further enriched by an exclusive video introduction from Soderbergh before each screening, offering personal insights into his film choices. The curated film lineup includes iconic titles such as “Trouble in Paradise,” “Notorious,” “The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T,” “The Servant,” “Jaws,” “Do the Right Thing,” “Fargo,” “Lost in Translation,” and “Phantom Thread.” Soderbergh's connection to Singani 63 began in 2007 during the filming of 'Che,' leading to a partnership with the Granier family and the brand's launch in 2009. The series builds on the overwhelming success of its inaugural program in New York earlier this year. As an added delight, a new signature cocktail, the 'Spiced Soderbergh Sour,' will debut during the London series and will be available across all 49 Everyman cinemas in the U.K. starting in late September. Additionally, Amathus, a prominent independent drinks retailer, will offer Singani 63 with special promotions, including signed bottles, Everyman membership prizes, and tasting events across its 15 stores.

This initiative by Steven Soderbergh offers more than just a film screening; it presents a meticulously crafted experience that stimulates both the mind and the palate. By blending cinematic art with the sophisticated world of spirits, Soderbergh invites audiences to engage with film in a novel and exciting way. This series serves as a testament to the power of creative collaborations and the endless possibilities when different forms of art converge. It's a fantastic opportunity for cinephiles and those new to arthouse cinema to explore a curated selection of films through the unique lens of a visionary director, all while enjoying innovative cocktails.
