Netflix recently inaugurated its new facility in Warsaw, Poland, signifying a major stride in strengthening its technological and creative presence in Central and Eastern Europe. This strategic move, a decade after its initial service launch in the country, brings together diverse teams under one roof, fostering innovation in both product development and local content creation.
The newly opened office in the heart of Warsaw accommodates approximately 300 professionals spanning content, engineering, marketing, global affairs, communications, finance, and talent acquisition. Following the establishment of its first Polish office in 2022 and a dedicated technology hub the subsequent year, Netflix's engineering footprint in the city has seen substantial growth. The company anticipates further expansion in the coming years, with a particular focus on advancements in infrastructure, gaming, and production technologies.
Netflix's co-CEO, Greg Peters, who attended the opening in Warsaw, expressed immense pride in the company's achievements in Poland over the past decade. He emphasized Poland's rich pool of creative talent, which, in collaboration with local partners, has enabled the streaming giant to share exceptional Polish narratives with audiences across the region. Concurrently, the engineering teams in Warsaw are pioneering cutting-edge innovations that support the creation, management, and global distribution of films and series to over half a billion subscribers worldwide. This expansion underscores Netflix's commitment to nurturing local talent and contributing to the Polish creative economy.
Since its launch in Poland in 2016, Netflix has commissioned and acquired over 700 films and series, including more than 80 original productions. This extensive investment has injected over 3 billion Polish złoty (approximately $800 million) into Poland's GDP, creating more than 5,000 jobs for cast and crew and an additional 14,000 roles for extras and day hires. The company's Polish slate for 2026 includes a diverse range of projects, such as a new adaptation of the classic novel 'The Doll', 'Less of a Stranger' a biopic about rock icon Jan Borysewicz, and 'Anesthesia', Netflix's inaugural Polish medical drama. Popular comedy series '1670' will return for its third season, alongside the first Polish adaptation of 'Love Is Blind'. Noteworthy past original titles include the conspiracy thriller '1983', and successful dramas like 'Heweliusz' and 'High Water', with many Polish productions consistently featuring in Netflix’s global non-English top 10 lists. Furthermore, Netflix has actively supported skills and talent development through collaborations with organizations such as the Polish Producers Alliance, the Polish Film Institute, the New Horizons Association, and the Łódź Film School, benefiting over 1,300 participants. This continuous investment not only drives economic growth but also elevates the global profile of Polish creative works and fosters a vibrant local production ecosystem, promoting cultural exchange and artistic excellence.
