The latest installment of "Saturday Night Live U.K.," featuring host Jamie Dornan, experienced a decline in its audience figures. Despite an engaging segment that garnered substantial online attention, the live comedy show faced stiff competition during its broadcast, leading to a noticeable drop in its television viewership for the second consecutive week.

SNL U.K.'s Second Episode Sees Audience Downturn Amidst Strong Competition

On March 29, 2026, the second episode of "Saturday Night Live U.K.," broadcast live on Comcast-owned Sky One at 10 p.m. local time, recorded a total of 205,000 viewers. This figure represents a decrease from the premiere episode's 226,000 viewers. The episode, notably hosted by "Fifty Shades" star Jamie Dornan and featuring musical guests Wolf Alice, opened with a satirical sketch about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the Epstein controversy. While the live television broadcast experienced a dip in audience share from 3.2% to 3.17%, according to official BARB figures provided by overnights.tv, the Prince Andrew sketch proved to be a digital success, accumulating 829,000 views on YouTube within 14 hours. Another sketch involving Dornan and cast member Annabel Marlow also drew significant online viewership, nearing 206,000 views in 13 hours. However, the show's late-night slot placed it against formidable competitors on free-to-air channels. BBC One's news program captured 1.6 million viewers (20.95% share), and "The Jonathan Ross Show" on ITV1 attracted 1.1 million viewers (16.59% share). Even a movie rerun, "Moonfall" on Channel 4, garnered 126,000 viewers (2.96% share), nearly half of SNL U.K.'s audience. Earlier in the evening, prime-time shows like "Gladiators" on BBC One (3.3 million viewers) and "Britain's Got Talent" on ITV1 (3.2 million viewers) dominated the Saturday viewing landscape. The series, executive produced by "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels, had its U.K. debut a week prior with a star-studded lineup including Michael Cera, Graham Norton, Regé-Jean Page, and Nicola Coughlan. The upcoming third episode, scheduled for April 4, will feature Riz Ahmed as host and Kasabian as the musical guest.

The fluctuating viewership of "SNL U.K." highlights the evolving landscape of media consumption. While traditional live television ratings present one picture, the considerable online engagement with specific sketches underscores the growing importance of digital platforms for content reach and audience interaction. This trend suggests that the success of a program, especially a comedy show with viral potential, cannot be solely measured by linear broadcast numbers but must also account for its impact and visibility across various online channels.
