In an exciting development for motorsport enthusiasts, Imax and Apple TV have forged a partnership to bring the adrenaline-pumping world of live Formula 1 racing to the big screens across the United States. This innovative collaboration follows the remarkable success of the film 'F1: The Movie,' starring Brad Pitt, which garnered significant attention in Imax theaters. The initiative aims to capitalize on the surging popularity of Formula 1 in the U.S. market, offering fans an unparalleled immersive viewing experience that transcends traditional broadcasting.

The partnership will showcase five key Grand Prix events live in specially selected Imax locations nationwide. Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to witness races from iconic circuits such as Miami, Monaco, Silverstone, Monza, and Austin. This move represents Imax's strategic expansion into live sports and entertainment, creating new revenue streams and offering unique content to its audiences. For Formula 1, it’s a bold step towards solidifying its status as a premier sport in the U.S., mirroring its long-standing appeal in Europe and other international territories.

Jonathan Fischer, Imax's chief content officer, expressed his enthusiasm, noting that 'F1: The Movie' successfully demonstrated how the speed and artistry of Formula 1 translate powerfully to the Imax format. He emphasized that this collaboration with Apple builds upon that resonance, delivering live races in a way that deeply connects with fans. Similarly, Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of music, sports, and Beats, highlighted the rapid growth of F1's cultural impact in the U.S. and underscored how bringing these live events to Imax theaters will amplify the energy and excitement for a broader audience.

The cinematic F1 experience is scheduled to commence with the Miami Grand Prix on May 3, 2026, and will continue through to the United States Grand Prix in Austin on October 25, 2026. This series of screenings promises to transform how fans engage with Formula 1, allowing them to feel every turn, every overtake, and every victory with enhanced visual and audio fidelity. It marks a significant moment for both Imax and Formula 1, bridging the gap between cinema and live sports entertainment.

This initiative represents a strategic convergence of cinematic grandeur and the thrilling world of professional racing. By offering live Formula 1 races in Imax theaters, both companies are poised to deliver a captivating experience that will undoubtedly resonate with existing fans and attract new ones, further cementing F1's presence in the American sports landscape.
