The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, in collaboration with Expedia, is rolling out a captivating new video series titled "Go Vacation on Location." This innovative program invites travelers and movie buffs to explore Los Angeles's most celebrated filming sites, guided by the very professionals who discovered and managed these iconic backdrops.

Unveiling Hollywood's Hidden Gems: A Cinematic Journey for Travelers

Discovering Cinematic Landscapes Through Expert Eyes

The new "Go Vacation on Location" series is a joint effort between the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board and Expedia. Its primary goal is to showcase the numerous film-friendly locales throughout the city, providing an immersive experience for visitors and cinema enthusiasts alike.

The Role of Hollywood's Unsung Heroes

Hollywood's location managers, often the unsung heroes behind the scenes, will serve as the hosts for these engaging video tours. According to writer and co-producer Harry Medved, this initiative aims to spotlight the crucial contributions of these professionals, whose work not only shapes the visual narrative of films but also supports the local economy by keeping productions in Los Angeles.

Curated Tours by Renowned Location Managers

The series will kick off with expert-led tours. Tristan Daoussis, known for his work on "La La Land" and "Jumanji: Open World," will guide viewers through downtown Los Angeles, featuring the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Kelly Harris, the location manager for "Bel-Air" and "Melrose Place," will present Los Angeles's famous beaches, focusing on the vibrant Venice boardwalk. Scott Trimble, who worked on "Transformers" and "Star Trek," will lead an exploration of the San Fernando Valley, starting at the Valley Relics Museum.

L.A. Tourism's Vision for Film-Inspired Travel

Eileen Hanson, Chief Marketing Officer at L.A. Tourism, expressed enthusiasm for the project. She highlighted Los Angeles's inherent connection to the film and television industry, which inspires travel globally. The series is designed to offer a deeper, more authentic exploration of the city through locations made famous on screen, thereby boosting tourism and supporting the thousands of local jobs sustained by the film industry.

Collaboration with Industry Professionals

Expedia has been designated as the official travel booking partner for this "set-jetting" endeavor. The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board collaborated closely with members of the Location Managers Guild International to ensure that the videos offer an insider's perspective on these cinematic destinations.

The Creative Minds Behind the Series

The "Go Vacation on Location" videos are produced by Black Buddha Media Group. Herbie Wei leads the production, while Harry Medved and Harry Pallenberg, creators of the Emmy-nominated PBS SoCal series "Locationland," are responsible for the writing and co-production of this new series.
