Beta Film has successfully orchestrated a widespread international distribution for the acclaimed British television series 'Patience,' making it accessible in 100 countries globally. This achievement underscores the series' significant appeal and the robust efforts in its global promotion. The show, a production of Eagle Eye Drama in collaboration with Beta Film, has demonstrated impressive performance, particularly with its second season achieving substantial viewership gains and critical recognition, solidifying its position as a major success for Channel 4.
The expansion of 'Patience' has seen it reach diverse audiences across continents. In the Americas, AMC Networks has acquired the rights for Latin America, while in Australia, ABC will be broadcasting the series. African viewers can tune in via BBC Brit. European distribution includes RAI in Italy, ProSiebenSat.1 in Germany, VRT in Belgium, TET in Latvia, and Telia in Estonia. The series has also found a home in Asia with NOW TV in Hong Kong, NHK in Japan, and Ajara TV in Georgia, building upon earlier agreements in regions like Scandinavia, Spain, and New Zealand.
The second season of 'Patience' has garnered considerable attention, becoming Channel 4's most-watched program across both linear broadcasts and streaming platforms since its reintroduction. The inaugural episode alone captivated 4.2 million viewers within 28 days, marking a substantial 38% increase in streaming viewership compared to the previous year and an 18% rise over the first season's launch. In the United States, 'Patience' also emerged as one of the most favored series on PBS's digital platforms throughout 2025.

The second season introduces a new dynamic with BAFTA recipient Jessica Hynes, known for her roles in 'Miss Austen' and 'The Franchise,' joining the cast as Detective Frankie Monroe. Together, they navigate a series of intricate and perplexing criminal investigations. Detective Monroe's distinct approach to management creates initial friction, compelling both characters to adapt and evolve their working relationship.
With a third season already commissioned, production for 'Patience' is scheduled to commence this spring in both Belgium and York. The returning cast includes Nathan Welsh, Mark Benton, Adrian Rawlins, Tom Lewis, Ali Ariaie, and Liza Sadovy, alongside Purvis and Hynes. Matt Baker, the lead writer for the first season, collaborates with Amy Shindler and Beth Chalmers, who served as lead writers for the second season. Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino continue their roles as executive producers for all seasons. Beta Film manages global distribution, while PBS Distribution retains the rights for North America.
The widespread success of 'Patience' illustrates its compelling narrative and strong character development, resonating with a global audience. The series' ability to blend intricate crime plots with engaging personal dynamics has been key to its international appeal and continued growth, promising further captivating seasons for fans worldwide.
