This extensive review, documented across 26 YouTube installments, culminated in a significant disclosure: the game's dramatic and seemingly abrupt conclusion, featuring a witcher assassin, was not part of the original narrative team's vision and was, in his opinion, an error.

The Assassin's Introduction: Setting the Stage for a New Narrative

The contentious ending portrays Geralt after receiving his remuneration from King Foltest, only to encounter an unexpected and impactful event. A cinematic reveals a dying assassin, notably a fellow witcher, a discovery that starkly signals a narrative shift. This particular twist was orchestrated by the CD Projekt board, or possibly by co-founder Michał Kiciński, during the game's final development stages, without direct collaboration with the story team. Despite the creative team's reservations, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings achieved substantial commercial success, selling over 15 million copies by January 2016.
