Trillion Energy International Inc. has announced a strategic seismic program for its M47c,d oil block in southeastern Türkiye, scheduled for late summer 2026. This 40-kilometer 2D seismic survey is a crucial step in advancing the block's drilling, development, and exploration potential. The program focuses on high-priority zones including the South Lead and the North field discovery area, which encompasses the Çetinkaya-1 and Çetinkaya-2 wells. The company anticipates that this initiative will lead to new well locations and contribute significantly to the commercial viability and long-term production of the block.
Trillion Energy Advances Türkiye Oil Exploration with Major Seismic Program
In a significant move to enhance its operational capabilities, Trillion Energy International Inc. (CSE:TCF, OTCQB:TRLEF, FRA:Z620) has finalized plans for a 40-kilometer 2D seismic survey within its M47c,d oil block located in southeastern Türkiye. The acquisition of seismic data is slated for late summer 2026. This comprehensive program is designed to cover three critical exploration zones: the South Lead, situated along the southeastern boundary, and the established North field discovery region, which includes the vicinity of the Çetinkaya-1 and Çetinkaya-2 wells.
Company officials have indicated that the new seismic lines are meticulously planned to facilitate future drilling, development, and exploration activities across the block. Tender documents for relevant contractors have already been prepared, signifying the readiness for the upcoming operational phase. The design of this survey builds upon previous groundwork, including a recently concluded field scouting mission and a high-resolution gravity study. These earlier investigations successfully identified significant fault-related structures and promising leads within the license area. The seismic lines have been strategically positioned to integrate with recent discoveries in adjacent blocks, aiming to maximize data correlation and efficiency. Furthermore, advance site preparation is expected to streamline the acquisition schedule and mitigate overall program costs.
Trillion Energy projects that the seismic data acquisition will take approximately six weeks to complete during late summer 2026, with data interpretation to follow immediately thereafter. Scott Lower, President of Trillion Energy, expressed confidence in the program's impact, stating, "New seismic acquisition significantly advances the commercialization and exploration of the M47 Block forward." He further elaborated that several of the block's most crucial and prospective areas have not yet been adequately imaged, and the interpreted data from this survey will be instrumental in finalizing new well locations for future drilling programs, propelling the company closer to sustained commercial production.
The North Discovery area holds an estimated 2C Contingent Resource of 27.6 million barrels (MMbbl), with an unrisked Net Present Value (NPV-10) of US$733.5 million. This area is strategically located approximately 11 kilometers from the Şehit Aybüke Yalçın oil field, which stands as Türkiye's largest onshore oil discovery. A light oil discovery with a 32.4° API gravity and 38 meters of net oil pay was confirmed at the C-1 discovery well. Collectively, Trillion's three prospects boast an impressive total unrisked resource potential of 51.6 MMbbl net to the company. This includes a North Prospect 3C estimate valued at an unrisked NPV-10 of US$1.18 billion. The broader Gabar region has seen remarkable success in recent years, yielding seven new analog oil field discoveries over the past five years, collectively producing over 80,000 barrels per day (bbl/d). Appraisal work has assessed the original oil in place (PIIP) at 578,213 MSTB on a 100% interest basis, underscoring the region's significant hydrocarbon potential.
This initiative by Trillion Energy underscores the ongoing global demand for energy resources and the continuous efforts by companies to explore and develop new reserves. The methodical approach of conducting detailed seismic surveys before committing to drilling operations highlights a prudent strategy in resource management, aiming to optimize success rates and reduce exploratory risks. The anticipated results from this program could not only enhance Trillion Energy's portfolio but also contribute significantly to Türkiye's energy independence and economic growth. It serves as a testament to the persistent pursuit of energy security through technological advancement and strategic geological analysis.
