Serena Williams and Audemars Piguet Unveil Exclusive Royal Oak Chronograph

Legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue and global fashion authority.

Tennis superstar Serena Williams has partnered with luxury watchmaker Audemars Piguet to launch a distinctive limited-edition Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph. This collaboration, a culmination of over a decade of partnership, brings forth a timepiece that beautifully marries robust watchmaking with a touch of feminine sophistication.

Details of the Exclusive Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph

The newly unveiled Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph "Serena Williams" Limited Edition features a striking 38mm white ceramic case, which offers both exceptional durability and remarkable lightness. Complementing this is a captivating pink mother-of-pearl dial, a design choice that Williams herself championed. She expressed her belief that "strength and feminine energy can exist side by side," emphasizing the blend of determination and creativity this watch embodies. The watch stands out in the industry by unapologetically embracing feminine aesthetics without sacrificing technical prowess.

Audemars Piguet's use of white ceramic is notable, as it is often reserved for larger, more intricate models. Williams' influence has reshaped this perception, presenting a slimmer, more refined 38mm timepiece that retains the brand's iconic appeal. The ceramic construction extends to the bezel and integrated bracelet, which are meticulously finished with alternating satin-brushing and chamfering, creating a dynamic visual effect. The watch is also water-resistant to 50 meters, a practical feature for active individuals.

Beyond its exterior, the watch is powered by the new in-house Calibre 6401 automatic movement. This advanced mechanism includes a column wheel and vertical clutch for precise chronograph activation, along with a refreshed dial layout featuring a 30-minute counter at 9 o'clock, a 12-hour counter at 3 o'clock, and running seconds at 6 o'clock. A date window is subtly positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock. Production is limited to 500 pieces, each priced at nearly $100,000 (70,000 Swiss francs), underscoring its exclusivity and collectible nature.

This collaboration offers a fresh perspective on luxury watch design, proving that timepieces can be both technically complex and exquisitely feminine. It challenges traditional notions of watch aesthetics, making a bold statement about inclusivity and personal expression in the high-end watch market. Serena Williams' involvement not only highlights her long-standing relationship with Audemars Piguet but also reinforces her impactful legacy both on and off the court, inspiring a new generation of watch enthusiasts.
