Early Digital Release on the eShop

Nintendo's online storefront has prematurely revealed the availability of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for the Switch. Both titles are currently listed, indicating an earlier-than-anticipated digital release for these beloved classics.

Pricing and Launch Details

Each game is priced at £16.99 / $19.99 and is scheduled for a launch on February 27th, a date that fittingly aligns with Pokémon Day. This release strategy allows players to acquire the games individually, bypassing the need for a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Furthermore, a unique 'physical' iteration, which includes a download code rather than a cartridge, will be offered in Japan, with its international availability yet to be confirmed.

Celebrating Three Decades of Pokémon

The reintroduction of FireRed and LeafGreen plays a crucial role in commemorating Pokémon's 30th anniversary. This echoes a similar celebration nearly a decade ago, when classic titles were released on the 3DS for the franchise's 20th anniversary, highlighting Nintendo's consistent nod to its rich history.

Language-Specific Purchases

Prospective buyers should be aware that each language version of the game is offered as a distinct download. Therefore, players are advised to meticulously select their preferred language when pre-ordering to ensure they receive the correct version.

Anticipation for Pokémon Presents

The launch of these titles is set to follow closely after a special Pokémon Presents broadcast on February 27th. Fans are eager to see if Nintendo and The Pokémon Company will unveil additional anniversary surprises during the event, adding to the excitement surrounding these classic re-releases.
