A fresh musical production centered on the life of Galileo is slated to join the Broadway lineup in the upcoming season. This highly anticipated show marks the return of celebrated actor Raúl Esparza to the Broadway stage after a hiatus of over a decade. He will be joined by talents Joy Woods and Jeremy Kushnier, under the direction of Michael Mayer and featuring an original score by Zoe Sarnak and Michael Weiner. The production promises to bring a compelling narrative to audiences, building on its successful world premiere.

The eagerly awaited production of 'Galileo' is set to commence preview performances on November 10 at the Shubert Theatre. This venue will become its home following the conclusion of 'Hell’s Kitchen,' unless another theatrical work takes its place in the interim. The official opening night for 'Galileo' is scheduled for December 6, promising a vibrant new addition to New York's theater scene. The show first captivated audiences during its world premiere at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2024, garnering critical acclaim that paved its way to the prestigious Broadway stage. This significant move highlights the production's artistic merit and potential for widespread appeal.

Raúl Esparza, a distinguished four-time Tony Award nominee, will lead the cast in the titular role of Galileo. This engagement marks his first appearance on Broadway in over 13 years, creating considerable excitement among theater enthusiasts. Esparza’s distinguished career includes memorable performances such as Bobby in the 2006 revival of 'Company,' Riff Raff in 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show,' and Philip Sallon in the Boy George musical 'Taboo' in 2004. His most recent Broadway endeavor was in the 2012 musical 'Leap of Faith,' underscoring his diverse theatrical experience. Sharing the stage with Esparza will be Joy Woods, who recently earned a nomination for her performance in 'Gypsy,' and Jeremy Kushnier, further enriching the ensemble with their talent.

Behind the scenes, the musical boasts a creative team with significant Broadway experience. Danny Strong, renowned for his work on this season's 'Chess,' has penned the book for 'Galileo.' Michael Mayer, who is also directing 'Chess,' takes the helm as director for this production, ensuring a cohesive and visionary interpretation. The original musical score is a collaboration between Zoe Sarnak and Michael Weiner, while David Neumann is responsible for the choreography, promising dynamic and engaging stage movement. The production is brought to life by producers Amanda Lipitz, Henry Tisch, and Jordan Roth, the latter now serving as creative director for ATG Entertainment after formerly leading Jujamcyn Theaters.

The upcoming Broadway season is set to be enriched by 'Galileo,' a new musical featuring a celebrated cast and an experienced creative team. With Raúl Esparza's return to the stage and the visionary direction of Michael Mayer, the production, which had its world premiere in 2024, is poised to offer a compelling and engaging theatrical experience.
