Michaela McManus, known for her roles in "SEAL Team" and "Law & Order: SVU," is rejoining forces with actor David Boreanaz in the upcoming pilot for NBC's revival of "The Rockford Files." Boreanaz is cast as the iconic private investigator, Jim Rockford, and Greg Mottola, acclaimed for his work on "Confess, Fletch" and "Peacemaker," will take the helm as director for the pilot episode.
The series will follow Jim Rockford, a man recently released from prison after being wrongly convicted, as he re-establishes his life as a private investigator in Los Angeles. His pursuit of a legitimate life quickly brings him into conflict with both law enforcement and criminal organizations. McManus is slated to portray Kate, an East Hollywood detective whose past romantic involvement with Rockford is complicated by his public accusations against fellow police officers, adding a layer of personal drama to the investigative narrative.
This pilot marks a significant reunion for McManus and Boreanaz, who previously played a married couple in the military drama "SEAL Team." For McManus, it also signifies a return to NBC, where she was a prominent figure as ADA Kim Greylek in "Law & Order: SVU." Her extensive television credits also include "One Tree Hill," "The Orville," and "You," and she currently features in the Fox drama "Memory of a Killer" alongside Patrick Dempsey, as well as the sci-fi film "Redux Redux." The pilot is being developed by writer and executive producer Mike Daniels, with Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman serving as executive producers, and Chris Leanza as co-executive producer. Boreanaz will also contribute as a producer, and Universal Television is the studio behind the project.
This upcoming series promises to bring a fresh perspective to a classic tale of justice and redemption, highlighting the resilience of individuals who strive to overcome adversity. It reminds us that even after facing profound injustices, one can still pursue truth and make a positive impact on the world, inspiring viewers to believe in the power of integrity and perseverance.
