British podcasting powerhouse Goalhanger, celebrated for hits such as “The Rest is Football,” which recently found a new home on Netflix, is making a significant move to amplify its presence in the television and film landscape. The company has brought on Tom Miceli in a pivotal new role, signaling a robust push into screen adaptations of its popular intellectual property. Miceli's appointment is a strategic step aimed at leveraging Goalhanger's successful audio content into visual narratives, capitalizing on its distinct ideas, acclaimed talent, and deeply engaged fan base. This expansion comes amidst a period of remarkable growth for Goalhanger, which was recently recognized as one of Britain's fastest-growing private enterprises, further cementing its status as a major player in the media industry.

Goalhanger Welcomes Tom Miceli to Drive Screen Content Expansion

In a significant development for the British podcasting giant Goalhanger, Tom Miceli has been appointed to the newly created position of Head of IP Development. This strategic move, announced on August 20, 2026, aims to substantially bolster the company's ventures into television and film production. Miceli, who brings over a decade of experience from his tenure in the TV division at WME, will now be at the helm of Goalhanger's intellectual property development and licensing strategy.

His primary focus will be to scout and cultivate opportunities across Goalhanger's extensive portfolio of existing shows and its burgeoning development pipeline. Miceli’s mission is to transmute these successful audio properties into compelling television and film projects, targeting both the United Kingdom and global markets. Reporting directly to the visionary founders of Goalhanger, Miceli will engage closely with the company’s talent, editorial teams, and general managers. His responsibilities include curating a prioritized slate of projects, fostering vital relationships with commissioners and production collaborators, and skillfully managing negotiations for licensing agreements, co-production deals, and format sales.

Miceli's distinguished career at WME saw him represent a diverse array of producers, directors, and talent, alongside leading the agency's international format business. Notably, he played a crucial role in orchestrating WME's collaboration with Goalhanger for the Netflix partnership, which introduced “The Rest Is Football” to the streaming platform during the World Cup and for the eagerly anticipated Premier League season. This move is particularly timely as Goalhanger continues its rapid ascent, recently earning the distinction of being named Britain's fastest-growing private company by The Sunday Times 100. The company is also gearing up for its landmark three-day event, Goalhanger: The Rest Is Fest, scheduled for September in London, which will unite its most prominent shows.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Miceli remarked, “I am incredibly excited to join Goalhanger, a company I've long admired both professionally and as a devoted listener. I immerse myself in their content daily and am eager to help translate their intellectual property into new mediums and platforms, all while upholding the exceptional quality that has propelled Goalhanger to become an industry leader.” Jack Davenport, co-founder of Goalhanger, also shared his optimism, stating, “Our productions are built on innovative concepts, extraordinary talent, and incredibly loyal audiences, which creates immense potential to extend their reach beyond their original formats. Having collaborated with Tom for many years, we’ve witnessed his rare blend of creative acumen, business expertise, and strong industry connections. We are thrilled to integrate his specialized skills in-house, where he will be instrumental in identifying and transforming the right opportunities into successful television and film endeavors.”

The appointment of Tom Miceli signifies a bold new chapter for Goalhanger, demonstrating its ambition to not only dominate the podcasting world but also to leave an indelible mark on the global television and film industries. It reflects a strategic vision to evolve and diversify its storytelling capabilities, bringing beloved audio narratives to a wider visual audience.
