First Look at 'The Season': Hong Kong Drama Premiering on Viu and Hulu

Fremantle has unveiled initial promotional images for its upcoming Hong Kong-set drama, "The Season." This six-part English-language production is a collaborative effort between PCCW Media and SK Global, the creative force behind acclaimed titles such as "Crazy Rich Asians" and "Delhi Crime." The series is scheduled for a summer release, premiering as a Viu Original across Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa, while audiences in the United States will be able to stream it on Hulu. Fremantle is managing the global distribution rights, with additional backing from De Maio Entertainment.
The plot of "The Season" revolves around an affluent social stratum whose serene summer of yachting is unexpectedly disrupted by the introduction of an outsider into their tightly-knit world. As the warmer months progress, long-hidden truths surface, established allegiances begin to waver, and personal ambitions dramatically alter existing relationships in unforeseen ways.
The ensemble cast features a diverse array of talent, including Jessie Mei Li, known for her role in "Shadow and Bone"; three-time Golden Horse Award laureate Karena Lam; Chris Pang from "Interior Chinatown"; Justin Chien of "The Brothers Sun"; Yvonne Chapman from "Avatar: The Last Airbender"; Celina Jade, recognized for her work in "Wolf Warrior 2"; and Toby Stephens of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" fame. The cast is further enriched by Kōki, the recipient of the 2025 Rising Star of Asia Award, Lee Jae-yoon from "Physical 100 S2," and "King Maker" champion Lyman Heung. Special guest appearances include Hong Kong luminaries Anson Lo of Mirror and Marf Yau of Collar.
Yalun Tu, who previously co-created the Prime Video Japan series "My Undead Yokai Girlfriend" and has contributed to productions like "NCIS: Hawaii" and "Wu Assassins," is the creative visionary and executive producer for "The Season." Marialy Rivas, the Chilean director behind "The Jetty," is at the helm of the directing team and also serves as an executive producer. Janice Lee and Agatha Lo are executive producing on behalf of PCCW Media, with Chloe Dan, Matt Aragachi, and Dylan Tarason undertaking similar roles for SK Global.
