Ferrari has provided an initial glimpse into the technical specifications of its forthcoming all-electric vehicle, currently known as the Electtrica. Despite a perceived niche market for electric supercars, the renowned Italian manufacturer is pushing boundaries with this new model. The Electtrica is poised to redefine electric performance, integrating sophisticated engineering and innovative features, with its complete unveiling anticipated next year.

Ferrari Electtrica: Unveiling the Future of Electric Grand Touring

In a significant move towards electrification, Ferrari has released preliminary details for its first fully electric vehicle, the 'Electtrica.' This grand tourer is engineered to deliver exhilarating performance and dynamic control, embodying Ferrari's commitment to pushing automotive limits. The vehicle will feature an in-house developed 800-volt battery and electric motors, all manufactured at Ferrari's Maranello facility. Scheduled for a full debut next year, the Electtrica is set to hit the market in the first half of 2026.

Performance figures for the Electtrica are impressive. In 'Boost' mode, the vehicle will generate more than 986 horsepower from its four electric motors. A 122.0-kilowatt-hour battery is expected to provide a WLTP range of 329 miles, though EPA estimates for the U.S. market are projected to be slightly lower. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (approximately 62 mph) is stated at a blistering 2.5 seconds, with a top speed reaching 192 mph.

The Electtrica's chassis and suspension systems are designed for unparalleled driving dynamics. It adopts a grand tourer stance, reminiscent of the GTC4Lusso, with a compact wheelbase of 116.5 inches. The advanced Ferrari Active Suspension Technology (FAST), featuring Multimatic dampers with 48-volt motor-driven ball screws, allows for precise body movement control. This system, combined with independent rear-wheel steering, ensures exceptional handling and ride quality, adeptly managing the car's substantial weight of around 5,070 pounds. The weight distribution is optimized at 47% front and 53% rear, thanks to the battery's strategic placement behind the driver and under the rear seats.

Breaking from conventional electric vehicle norms, the Electtrica will offer a unique auditory and tactile driving experience. Instead of artificial engine sounds, an accelerometer on the rear axle amplifies the natural sounds of the drivetrain within the cabin, providing an authentic aural feedback. Furthermore, the car will simulate gear shifts using five distinct power/torque maps, accessible via steering wheel paddles. The upshift paddle cycles through these maps, while the downshift paddle mimics engine braking, enhancing the sensation of traditional performance driving.

While exact pricing and exterior design remain under wraps, Ferrari plans to disclose more information leading up to its 2026 launch. This venture into electric vehicles marks a pivotal moment for Ferrari, signaling a serious and technologically advanced approach to the future of high-performance automobiles.

The introduction of the Ferrari Electtrica signifies a bold and necessary evolution for luxury performance brands in the electric era. It challenges the notion that electric vehicles cannot replicate the visceral experience of traditional supercars, showcasing how innovative engineering can preserve driving passion while embracing sustainability. This move could set a new benchmark for the entire industry, inspiring others to develop electric models that combine environmental responsibility with uncompromising performance and driver engagement.
