Pop superstar Ariana Grande recently made headlines by forgoing her nomination at the 2026 Actor Awards. Her absence stemmed from an unwavering commitment to rehearsals for her highly anticipated Eternal Sunshine Tour, marking her grand return to the live stage after a six-year hiatus. Grande hinted that this extensive tour across North America and the U.K. might be her final major tour for the foreseeable future, signaling a potential shift in her career trajectory toward more acting roles and other creative pursuits.

Grande Prioritizes Tour Preparations Over Awards Ceremony

On Sunday, March 1st, 2026, music sensation Ariana Grande was notably absent from the prestigious 32nd annual Actor Awards ceremony, which streamed live on Netflix. Despite receiving a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for her compelling portrayal in “Wicked: For Good,” Grande chose to prioritize intensive rehearsals for her forthcoming Eternal Sunshine Tour. This marks her first major tour in six years, following her Sweetener World Tour in 2019. The tour is slated to commence in June, with dates scheduled across North America and the United Kingdom.

Grande's decision highlights her dedication to delivering an exceptional live experience for her fans, especially as she has hinted at a prolonged break from touring after this endeavor. In a candid interview on Amy Poehler's “Good Hang” podcast in November, Grande shared that this tour could be "one last hurrah" for a considerable period. She expressed that her next 10 to 15 years would likely unfold very differently from her past, focusing on new artistic avenues.

Beyond her music, Grande is expanding her acting portfolio. She is set to appear in Ben Stiller’s comedy sequel “Focker In-Law,” reunite with her “Wicked” costar Jonathan Bailey for a London revival of “Sunday in the Park with George,” lend her voice to Jon M. Chu’s animated Dr. Seuss film “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” and join the cast of Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Story.”

Despite being overlooked for nominations at the BAFTA Awards and the Oscars for her "Wicked" performance, Grande expressed profound gratitude for her Actor Awards nomination. In an Instagram Story, she conveyed how deeply moved she was by the recognition from her peers, emphasizing that being part of such a magnificent community and receiving this acknowledgment meant more than words could convey.

The 2026 Actor Awards ceremony, hosted by Kristen Bell, honored Harrison Ford with the esteemed SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award. The event also acknowledged past recipients such as Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand, and the late Robert Redford.

Ariana Grande's recent choices offer a poignant reminder of the intricate balance artists navigate between their various creative passions. Her dedication to perfecting her live performances, coupled with her growing interest in acting, signals a thoughtful evolution in her career. It encourages fans and aspiring artists alike to embrace change and wholeheartedly pursue diverse creative avenues, even when it means making difficult decisions. This commitment to artistic growth not only enriches her own journey but also inspires others to explore the full spectrum of their talents.
