The Host and This Year's Leading Contenders

This year's gala will be hosted by acclaimed "The Traitors" star Alan Cumming. The competition for top honors is fierce, with Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" leading the pack with an impressive 14 nominations, including nods for Best Film, Best Director, Leading Actress, and Leading Actor. Close behind is Ryan Coogler's "Sinners," which garnered 13 nominations for categories such as Best Film, Original Screenplay, and Best Director. Other strong contenders for the coveted Best Film award include Chloe Zhao's "Hamnet," Josh Safdie's "Marty Supreme," and Joachim Trier's "Sentimental Value."

Recognizing Directorial Talent

The Best Director category features a stellar lineup of cinematic visionaries: Chloe Zhao, Josh Safdie, Paul Thomas Anderson, Ryan Coogler, Joachim Trier, and Yorgos Lanthimos for "Bugonia." Notably, Chloe Zhao's inclusion marks her seventh BAFTA nomination. She has previously won for Best Film and Best Director for her work on "Nomadland" in 2021. With 11 nominations for "Hamnet," Zhao has made history this year, as her film received the most nominations ever for a feature directed by a woman. She is also the sole female director nominated in this category for the current awards cycle.

Distinguished Acting Nominees

The leading actor category showcases a group of remarkable performances, including Jesse Plemons for "Bugonia," Robert Aramayo for "I Swear," Timothée Chalamet for "Marty Supreme," Leonardo DiCaprio for "One Battle After Another," Ethan Hawke for "Blue Moon," and Michael B. Jordan for "Sinners." In the leading actress category, the nominees are Jessie Buckley for "Hamnet," Rose Byrne for "If I Had Legs I’d Kick You," Kate Hudson for "Song Sung Blue," Chase Infiniti for "One Battle After Another," Renate Reinsve for "Sentimental Value," and Emma Stone for "Bugonia."
